The identity design for Kamari local cuisine & more draws its references directly from the restaurant’s name and from the characteristic arches found in the traditional architectural morphology of Skyros. Based on this visual language, we created a custom sans‑serif wordmark in which the letter m rises subtly above the other letters, forming a shape reminiscent of an arch and reinforcing the connection to the island’s built heritage. The secondary descriptive wording is set in a clean, simple sans‑serif typeface to maintain balance and readability.

As an independent symbol, we designed a circular abstract motif depicting the sea and the phases of the sunrise. The symbol shifts slightly across applications, suggesting movement and fluidity. Its concept was inspired by the restaurant’s eastern orientation and the beautiful view of the horizon at dawn.

A key creative element of the identity was the development of a stylized, humorous mascot, intended to appear across multiple applications — from placemats and menus to social media communication. The concept emerged from the island’s gastronomic tradition: thus, we created Mr. Octopus, complete with moustache, little hat and expressive tentacles — some holding glasses, others wine bottles, and others a serving tray with local dishes, desserts and drinks. The character is illustrated with a sense of motion, as if rushing to serve everyone at once, bringing energy, warmth and personality to the brand.

The color palette is earthy, calm and summery, dominated by sand‑beige and warm browns, evoking a sense of natural simplicity and island hospitality. The menu texts and selected applications use a loose, handwritten‑style typeface — expressive yet readable — to convey the warmth of something crafted by hand, personal and welcoming.

The result is a visual identity that blends local character, contemporary aesthetics and playful storytelling, forming a cohesive system that reflects the personality, philosophy and authentic charm of Kamari.
